The Village Plan Part II; One friend, One day of the Week

You’ve heard it before: “It takes a village to raise a child.” But in real life? That village doesn’t always show up the way a new mom needs it to. Between the sleepless nights, healing bodies, and emotional rollercoasters, postpartum can feel isolating — even when you’re technically “not alone.” The truth is, many people want to help… but they don’t know how. That’s where The Village Plan comes in. This is a way to love a new mom through action — one small, intentional day at a time.

🌿 What is the Village Plan?

The Village Plan is a simple, loving system where friends show up for a postpartum mom throughout the week — not randomly, not just once, but with intention.

Here’s the idea:

  • One friend = one day of the week

  • Each person checks in the night before their day to ask:
“What would be most helpful for you tomorrow?”

  • Then they show up in a small, practical way — folding laundry, bringing a snack, holding the baby, or just sitting with her.

It’s structure with soul.
It’s a plan that makes support actually happen.

🤎 Why It Matters

New moms are often overwhelmed but don’t want to ask for help — or don’t even know what they need. Friends want to help, but aren’t sure how.

The Village Plan:

  • Gives moms permission to receive

  • Gives friends permission to act

  • Turns “Let me know if you need anything” into real, daily care

This isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about tiny ones — done consistently, with love.

✨ How to Build a Village Plan

You can do this in a group text, a Notes app, or using the free printable below!

Step 1: Gather the Village

Ask 5–7 close friends or family members who are genuinely eager to help.

Step 2: Assign Days

Each person picks a day of the week where they’ll be the “on call” support.

Step 3: Check In the Night Before

Text the mom something like:

“Hey love — I’m your village tomorrow. What would feel good?”

Step 4: Show Up Gently

Some days, it’ll be folding towels.
Some days, it might just be a latte drop-off and a hug.
Both count.

💛 Final Thoughts

The Village Plan isn’t just a chart, It’s a love language.
It’s how we build connection, reduce isolation, and remind a new mom she’s held — even when her world feels wobbly.

So gather the group. Make the plan. And show up, even if it’s just with a warm coffee and a kind word.

She won’t forget it.
