Battle of the Baby Walkers: Which Toy Did My 1-Year-Old Actually Use?
Trying to decide which baby walker or ride-on toy is worth it for your 1-year-old? I tested three popular options—the VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker, Fisher-Price 2-Sided Speed Walker, and Little Tikes Push and Ride Racer. Find out which one my toddler actually played with and why the Little Tikes racer came out on top.

We’ve all been there—scrolling Amazon at midnight, debating which walker will finally keep our little one entertained for more than 2 minutes. Spoiler: not all baby toys are created equal (and neither are their attention spans). I put three popular options to the test with my newly minted 1-year-old, and here's what actually got played with — and what collected dust.
🏆 The Winner: Little Tikes Push and Ride Racer
This one was the clear favorite in our house. My 1-year-old is deep in the “climb on, get off, push it, ride it, repeat” phase, and this toy totally fits the bill. He loves the independence of getting on and off by himself. Bonus: he looks ridiculously cute pushing it around like a little racecar driver in training.
✅ Great for climbing, pushing, and riding
✅ Encourages independence and movement
✅ Actually gets used daily (!!!)
🎶 Honorable Mention: Fisher-Price 2-Sided Speed Walker
This was a hit before he was cruising. He loved sitting in front of it and pressing all the buttons. The songs? Instant baby dance party. It also helped him pull to stand, which was a huge win at the time. We’re not using it much now, but it served its purpose well during the early stages.
✅ Perfect for sitters and pre-walkers
✅ Encouraged standing and movement
✅ Music = baby joy
😬 Least Used: VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker
I really thought this would be a fave—especially because the activity panel detaches and doubles as a toy. While that part did get some action, my 1-year-old just wasn’t into walking with it. Maybe it’s the shape, maybe it's the height, but he never gravitated toward it the way he did with the others.
✅ Good for the detachable play panel
❌ Not his go-to for walking or play
❌ Mostly ignored unless I bring it to him
Final Thoughts:
If you’re in the market for a toy that grows with your little one and actually gets played with, the Little Tikes Push and Ride Racer is our winner. Every baby is different, but this one gets my (and my toddler’s) stamp of approval.
